Man Charged with Multiple Felonies

Courtney Cole Scott (CCSO Detention)

Deputies and Tabor City Police arrested a suspect wanted for larceny and other crimes in several cases stretching back to earlier this year.

Courtney Cole Scott, 31, of 118 Canal St., Tabor City, was taken into custody June 20 by Tabor Police and the Sheriff’s Office. He was held under $55,000 secured bond on multiple charges of larceny, two counts each of larceny of a firearm and a motor vehicle, no operator’s license, assault on an officer, resisting arrest, and a probation violation.

Scott and another man were spotted riding motorcycles without helmets in the Green acres community in May, according to reports. Scott evaded law enforcement, but the other suspect was detained and charged after wrecking.

Scott was wanted for allegedly taking a 2010 BMW X3 automobile owned by Lloyd Duncan and Stephanie Fowler in December. In April, warrants show Scott allegedly took a 2000 model Chevrolet truck, a .40 caliber Glock handgun, Remington shotgun, cellphone, laptop computer and wallet from Billy Ray Prince.

In May, deputies patrolling McCrimmon Extension at Swamp Fox Highway spotted Scott driving the stolen pickup. Scott allegedly fled a traffic stop, and attempted to ram a deputy who had recognized Scott and knew he was wanted. He then allegedly aimed the truck at another deputy who was standing beside his patrol vehicle.

Scott also faces unrelated charges in South Carolina.
