Samuel Thomas Kissam age 88 of Evergreen passed on Sunday June 2, 2024, at the Lower Cape Fear Lifecare Center ‘Angel House” in Whiteville.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery with Minister Philip Norwood and Pastor Ricky Donaldson officiating. Visitation will follow the service in the church cemetery.
He was the son of the late Benjamin Treadwell Kissam and Essie Durant Kissam. He was also preceded in death by his wives, Patricia Howard Kissam and Alma Huggins; two children, Charlene J. Lewis and Stephen C. Jernigan; siblings, Walter Kissam, Burton Kissam, Raymond Kissam and Dick Kissam; great-grandchild Casson Goldsmith.
Samuel worked for over 30 years with the NC Department of Transportation.
Sam is survived is survived by a son, Danny R. Kissam and his wife, Rita of Harrells; and a daughter, Jackie Kissam Bass and her husband, Phillip of Evergreen; three grandchildren, Wade Parrish, Amanda Bass, and Rebecca Hughes; four great-grandchildren, Caila Elaine Johnson, Thomas Wyatt Powell, Gracie Neil Newberry, and Sadie Lynn Hughes.
