One woman was shot to death Saturday after a home invasion on Sunset Terrace near Whiteville.
Summer Addison sustained go shot wounds to the abdomen and one arm, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. She died after she was airlifted to New Hanover Novant.
Jordan Jyreke Irvin Williams, 21, is being held under no bond on charges of first degree murder and first degree burglary. Detention center reports gave his address as Five Points Drive, Chadbourn.
Deputies were called to 976 Sunset Terrace around 7:30 p.m. to a report of a gunshot victim. Two deputies and two sergeants were met by Harold Ford, identified as the victim’s boyfriend. Addison was on a bedroom floor.
Ford told deputies that Williams is his grandson.
Saturday morning, there was a “heated argument” with Williams, who appeared intoxicated, Ford told deputies. Ford told Williams to leave, and the suspect threatened to return.
That evening, Ford said he was not at home, but Addison called him. He overheard Williams threatening Addison and demanding money.
“Mr. Ford then heard gunshots over the phone and rushed home,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release.
Ford armed himself with a crowbar, and discovered Addison, and that Williams had allegedly shot her.
Witness confirmed that Williams returned to the home, pried open a rear window, broke in and shot Addison. Spent shell casings were found at the scene, the release said.
Williams was arrested without incident Sunday at his Five Points home.
The murder was the third this year in Columbus.
