One Killed, One Charged in Wednesday Crash

A three car collision claimed the life of a Tabor City man Wednesday afternoon.

George Soles Jr., 80, was killed when the vintage 1936 truck he was driving was struck at the intersection of Peacock and Reynolds roads.
Sgt. K. McVicker of the Highway Patrol said John Weidman Jr. of Conway was on Reynolds Road when he failed to stop for a stop sign. His car collided with a Dodge Ram pickup traveling north on Peacock.
The impact caused the Dodge to strike Soles’ vehicle head on. The antique truck overturned and came to rest on the shoulder.
The driver of the Dodge truck was airlifted to Grand Strand Medical Center. Three passengers in that vehicle were also taken by ambulance to Grand Strand.
Weidman was transported to McLeod Loris hospital. He was charged with failure to yield and misdemeanor death by vehicle.
McVicker said there was no indication of alcohol or drugs playing a role in the crash.
