Elizabethtown Plate Agency to Close

The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles’ license plate agency (LPA) in Elizabethtown will close at 5 p.m. on Sept. 30 after the current operators announced their retirement.

The current agency, at 307 E. Broad St., Elizabethtown, has been contracted to Top Value Auto Parts, Inc., and operated by Gail and Stewart Norris since 1993.  A new agency will open under a selected contractor on a later date.

In the meantime, three nearby license plate agencies offer service Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. except for state holidays:

  • Lumberton, 118 W. Fifth St.
  • Whiteville, 201 E. Main St.
  • Wallace, 112 Medical Village Dr., Unit C

LPAs offer vehicle registration services and title transactions, as well as vehicle license plate renewals, replacement tags and duplicate registrations. Currently, 123 license plate agencies operate in North Carolina.

Many vehicle services can be completed online, including property tax payments and registration renewals. To get started, visit MyNCDMV.gov.
