Ex-wife Charged as Murder Accessory, Helped Hide Victim

Lance Arrington Sandlin IV (CCSO)

The ex-wife of a murder suspect was arrested this morning and charged as an accessory in the murder of Shanna Perry, the pregnant Delco woman who vanished in May.

Lance Arrington Sandlin IV, 47, was arrested Monday  (Sept. 23) just after 7 p.m. on a charge of first degree murder. Shortly after 1 a.m. Tuesday (today), detention records show that Lori Angel Flowers, 46, was booked for accessory after the fact. Sandlin is being held under no bond. Flowers was placed under a $1 million bond this morning at her first appearance.

The warrant says that Flowers knew that Sanders had killed Perry, and “did knowingly assist (Sanders) in attempting to escape and in escaping detection, arrest and punishment by denying medical aide to victim Shanna Denise Perry and helping hide Shanna Perry from witnesses.”

CCSO records show Sandlin’s address as 4870 Delco Prosper Rd., Delco. Flowers’ address was listed as 942 Livingston Chapel Road.

Deputies are back in the Delco area today searching for Perry’s body.

Sandlin reportedly had a prior relationship with Perry, according to sheriff’s office reports and family members. On Sept. 11, 2023, Perry, 36, was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, assault and other charges after she found Sandlin and Flowers in a car at 4868 Delco Prosper, and allegedly attacked them.

Perry and Sandlin had the same address – 4870 Delco Prosper — at the time of the alleged assault, according to arrest reports.

Perry was charged with pointing a Ruger handgun at the couple. When the pistol failed to fire, the investigator’s report said Sandlin disarmed Perry, who then bit him seriously enough to require medical attention. The firearm had an altered serial number, the report said.

Perry disappeared from her mother’s home on Delco Prosper Road in May. She left her young daughter with her mother and was last seen on foot. Family members said Perry was several months pregnant at the time of her disappearance.

The sheriff’s office and State Bureau of Investigation searched the area and interviewed multiple witnesses while searching for her.

Chris Rhodes of Precision Search and Rescue, a volunteer missing persons group, said volunteers and family also combed the woods and swamps from Bolton to Kelly in Bladen County.
