Rev. Alvin Joseph Morris best known as Daddy Al, age 88, formerly of Nakina, NC, died Friday, September 6, 2024, in UNC Health Southeastern, Lumberton, NC. Born May 16, 1936 in Pascagoula, MS, he was the son of the late Tom and Cecil Morris.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a devoted fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Faye Gore Morris of the home, two daughters, Debra McNeill (Wilson) of Parkton, NC, and April Rogers (Charles) of Red Springs, NC. One brother, Thomas “Tommy” Jefferson Morris of Ponca City, OK. Two sisters; Barbara Maulden of Picayune, MS, Debbie Pucheu of Kiln, MS. Four grandsons, Christopher Rogers (Constance), Cody McNeill, Brandon McNeill (Tessa) Nicholas Rogers (Leslie), and four great-grandchildren; Ava, Lainey, Allie, Grayson. Brother-in-law, Larry Gore (Linda) of Longs,SC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Alvin Michael Morris and one brother, John Morris.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 2:00pm in Bethesda Fellowship Church 6758 Manley Smith Rd. Nakina, NC 28455.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 9, 2024, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Inman Ward Funeral Home, Tabor City, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital 950 West Faris Rd Greenville, SC 29605.
