Mr. Wilkins was born September 14, 1943 in Stanly, North Carolina, son of the late James Wesley Wilkins and Dorothy Burney Wilkins.
He worked in various cities across the east coast. Mr. Wilkins and his wife Dianne moved to Brunswick County, North Carolina in 1990. He worked with Holden Beach Police and Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one son, Franklin Rowdy Wilkins.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Dianne Wilkins of Supply; two children, Patrick Wilkins and fiance’ Janice Robinson and Leslie Reed and husband Dave; one sister, Maria Best; two grandchildren, Ashley Moore and partner Denton Hedgepeth and Meagan Wilkins; two great grandchildren, Willow and Hazel; and many extended family members and friends.
