Hello everyone, Meteorologist Christopher Cawley here with the latest weather update. Sunday evening, October 20, 2024.
There is still absolutely no rain in sight… and in fact… clouds will be hard to come by for the foreseeable future. Our temperatures will be above normal as well, right through next weekend.
Strong high pressure remains firmly in control of much of the eastern half of the country. There’s just nothing to break this high pressure ridge.
So the forecast is pretty straightforward with bright sunshine by day and clear, comfortable nights.
Looking at the tropics, Hurricane Oscar formed seemingly out of nowhere on Saturday. He has hit Cuba pretty good but is getting sheared quite a bit and weakening as I write this. Thanks to a strong trough draped across central Cuba, and the high pressure ridge over the eastern US, he will make a hard right turn and lift northeast away from the islands and well away from the mainland US. There is zero chance that Oscar will have any impacts on the United States.
What about Nadine, you may ask? She formed just southeast of the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, moved inland, and dissipated into a remnant low all in the space of about 36 hours.
There are no other threats or areas of interest for the next 7 days.
Ok friends, that’ll do it for tonight. Thank you for reading, and, as always, take care.
