Teresa (Gail) Lingerfelt Hays

Born Teresa Gail Lingerfelt on November 10, 1965 at age 58 in Albemarle, North Carolina passed away at her home in Supply, North Carolina on 10-30-2024.

Teresa was a beacon of warmth and generosity, deeply cherished by her family and community. She was a graduate of Albemarle Sr High School and Stanly County Community College where she furthered her education as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Teresa dedicated much of her personal life to nurturing others as she took great pride in being a stay at home mom. She took great pride in being able to raise both of her kids. Teresa’s Professional life was as dedicated as her personal life as her roles were a certified nursing assistant, a cook, and later a screen printer and embroider, a career spanning 15 years where she truly flourished before her retirement.Teresa was a member of Brunswick Island Baptist Church. Her faith and devotion were evident in her everyday actions and commitment to her life. Teresa was a strong believer in faith and everyone she would talk to or interact with knew how much she was in love with her faith and how much love she had for the lord.

Teresa was an epitome of what it meant to be a True Southern Momma. Teresa’s passions were as nurturing as her personality. She loved cooking and was happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Teresa had an extensive family background with several nieces and nephews that she loved to spend time with as well.

Teresa’s happiest place to be was beside her husband Garrett. Teresa and Garrett “Gary” Hays III were wedded on May 30, 1987. Teresa and Gary met when they both worked at Golden Corral in Albemarle NC. Ever since they met they were inseparable, everything Gary did or went Teresa was by his side whether it be going to the store or late night plumbing calls she was there.

Teresa also had a profound love for animals, caring for her dogs PeeWee and Buddy, and she also loved feeding the deer that frequently visited her yard, embodying her belief that no creature should go hungry.

Teresa is survived by an extensive and loving family, including her mother Sylvia Blake Lingerfelt of Albemarle NC, Her husband who she loved so very much Garrett Alfred Hays III of Supply NC. Her Daughter and Son in-law Katie Hays (Robert Kenneth) Miller IV of Shallotte NC. Her Son and daughter-in-law Garrett Alfred (Brianna) Hays IV of Supply. She also had 2 Grand Children that were her biggest prides of all Karmen Stone and Tanner Miller (Robert and Katie Miller). Teresa also had 3 other siblings. Randy Lingerfelt of Ocean Isle Beach NC, Cynthia “Cyndi” Lingerfelt of Albemarle NC, and Annette “Net” Lingerfelt of Colorado.

Teresa was preceded in death by her father James Lee Lingerfelt in 2017 in Albemarle NC.

Service will be held Sunday November 10, 2024 at 3 pm at Brunswick Islands Baptist Church on Holden Beach Rd in Supply.

Teresa’s life was a testament to the power of caring and passion, and she will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to her family and community will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
