Woman Charged with Felony Vehicle Death

A woman is being held under no bond after allegedly striking a road worker with her vehicle and fleeing the scene.

Chloe Sagendorf, 27, was charged with felony hit and run resulting in death, felony death by vehicle, driving while impaired, and traffic violations. Her address was not immediately available on arrest reports. On arrest reports from

David Jackson was part of a work crew on Georgia Pacific Road when he was struck and killed around 1:45 p.m.  Wednesday.

Trooper C. Hernandez of the Highway Patrol said Sagendorf was heading east at a high rate of speed when she crossed the center line and allegedly struck Jackson. Jackson was taking a break and was on the shoulder, witnesses said.

Sagendorf fled the scene. A BOLO was issued for the pickup she was driving, and Whiteville Police eventually located the truck and took her into custody.

Jackson was from Baltimore, Md.
