Longtime Tabor City Town Manager Al Leonard has a new title: trustee.
The college announced Friday that Leonard is now a member of the board of trustees at Southeastern Community College.
He served as manager for Tabor City for 30 years, as well as being part-time administrator for several towns in the county.
Leonard spearheaded the downtown Fair Bluff revitalization effort, as well as working for grants that spurred growth in Tabor City.
He is still capital projects director for Tabor City and Redevelopment Director for Fair Bluff.
In a social media post, SCC leaders praised Leonard’s history of working to promote Columbus County.
“He’s dedicated to strengthening Columbus County and Leonard believes SCC’s technical programs – like welding, HVAC, and electrical engineering – are key to building a stronger local economy and solving community challenges.”
