Drones and search crews tracked down a 15-year-old boy who allegedly kidnapped his girlfriend Tuesday.
The youth has been referred to the Dept. of Juvenile Justice on charges of first degree kidnapping, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies responded to West End Drive near Whiteville around 6:32 p.m., according to the report. The boy’s mother called 911 after he allegedly took his 16-year-old girlfriend out of his residence against her will.
Law enforcement established a perimeter near Whiteville Auto Auctions on Chadbourn highway, and began an air and ground search. The Whiteville Emergency Services Drone Team located both the girl and the suspect. Neither was harmed, the report said. The girl refused medical treatment, and the boy was taken into custody.
