News Briefs for January 13, 2025
Whiteville Police had the first 911 call for law enforcement for 2025. Meisha Robinson Contact Whiteville Police at 2 a.m. Jan. 1 to report her car had been stolen. The last call investigated by local law enforcement in 2024 went to the sheriff’s office. At 8:39 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, Joshua Hopkins called the CCSO to report that someone stole his wallet from his pickup truck on Bird Cage Road near Chadbourn.
A boil water advisory has been issued for customers in the Riegelwood Sanitary District. Residents may see brown or discolored water, and any water intended for consumption should be boiled. Acme-Delco-Riegelwood Fire crews are flushing hydrants in the area. The water should be clear by Tuesday. Contact the Sanitary District for more information.
Construction is underway on the new Sun Do truck stop at the Union Valley exit on U.S. 74. The facility will be the largest in the county, with a full restaurant, gas, diesel and non ethanol fuel, and other amenities. It is scheduled to open this summer.
