A 17 year old Whiteville High School student is recovering after she was struck by an an SUV at the school this morning, Whiteville Police said the student was dropped off and was crossing Lee Street when she stepped into the path of an oncoming vehicle.
Part of District II of the county water system is under a boil advisory. Emergency repairs are causing discoloration along Chadbourn Highway from the 1300 to the 2300 block, and on Fruit Ridge Road. The repairs should be complete by tomorrow.
No charges have been filed yet after a case of reported animal cruelty in the Cerro Gordo area. The sheriff’s office reported that a dead cat was found in a crate outside a home on Pond Drive, where officers were called to investigate dogs in outside kennels with little or no shelter.
A Fair Bluff man was held under no bond after he stabbed his son on Sunday. James Earl Bostic, age 63, was arrested after he allegedly stabbed 23 year old Teren Josiah McKoy. McKoy is expected to recover.
