Five railroad crossings in upper Brunswick and Eastern Columbus counties will be closed in the coming weeks for repairs.
Traffic will be detoured around the project sites. Each repair is expected to last three to five days, according to Southern Commercial Development, the contractor handling the work.
“We work with CSX Transportation providing traffic control and detour signage for railroad crossing closures which require necessary maintenance and /or emergency repairs,” said Angela D. Nelis of Southern Commercial.
The work will require total closure of the rail crossings, and no traffic will be allowed to cross the tracks while the work is underway.
The repairs will start with crossings at Mount Misery and Blue Banks roads and Northwest Land and Cattle, then move to Port Royal Road and Ellis Farm Road in Columbus County. The rail crossings are all located on side roads that connect with Fertilizer Road in Columbus and Northwest Road in Brunswick.
