Governor Josh Stein and the council of state did not have the traditional public inauguration this weekend due to the winter storm’s impact on Raleigh.
Stein did announce that FEMA extended hotel stays for Hurricane Helene victims until today. Stein also gave his official inaugural speech Saturday. He said he looks forward to working with Republicans on continued expansion of Medicaid, and praised bipartisan efforts in the opioid crisis and efforts to clear rape backlogs and protect children.
An NCGOP statement released before the speech said that Stein’s tenure would be the “same tired policies” of former Governor Roy Cooper.
