Whiteville Police and the sheriff’s office are investigating separate shooting incidents that left one man seriously injured.
WPD said a man was shot and seriously injured at Kent Place Apartments Thursday. The victim was treated at Columbus Regional then transferred to Novant New Hanover, where he is recovering.
Suspects have been identified in the incident, Lt. Andre Jackson said.
In an unrelated shooting ten people were inside a home that was struck by gunfire early Thursday morning.
Deputies responded to a report of a shooting just before 6 a.m. at 105 Sandalwood Road in Whiteville. Deputy V. Lancaster reported that she observed three bullet holes in the front of the residence. One projectile went through the back door, and another was found on the floor inside the home.
Juanita Spaulding told deputies that “unknown individuals” fired into the residence, and all the residents were asleep at the time. No injuries were reported.
There were four adults, two teenagers, and four children from one to 12 years old in the home.
Investigators are reviewing potential evidence, including nearby surveillance footage in the case.
