Here’s today’s Bottom Line
While you were sleeping, a weak cold front has dropped down from the north and is dissipating essentially overhead. There’s no real “weather” accompanying this front, but our highs today will be a touch cooler than yesterday… expect highs generally in the lower 60s. That’s still 5-7 degrees above normal.
High pressure lifts off the coast tonight as a complicated storm system gets ready to impact the eastern third of the country Friday and Friday night.
A strong low pressure center will lift out of western Kansas this afternoon to a position over northern Pennsylvania by late Friday evening. A warm front will lift north/west over our area early tomorrow morning, followed by a strong cold front Friday evening or early Saturday morning.
A strong low-level jet stream takes shape over the southeast tonight into Friday. Some of the guidance is suggesting that we’ll have wind gusts in the 40 mph range during the day tomorrow; I am a little skeptical of that, but it’s going to be rather windy nonetheless during the afternoon.
As the cold front approaches, a line of convective showers is almost certain to move through the area. There are still some timing differences in the modeling; I’m going to wait until we’re close enough to the event for the high-res short-term guidance to come in. As of right now, rain chances exist from late Friday afternoon through the pre-dawn hours on Saturday… I’ll fine-tune that by tomorrow morning’s update.
It’s a strong cold front, but I don’t think we’ll have any thunder with this event.
Dry weather pushes back in on Saturday and lasts through at least early next week. Temperatures warm up into next week in the “zonal flow” (west-to-east — all of the colder air gets trapped well to the north). Our highs will be deep into the 70s through at least the first half of next week.

Ok friends, that’ll do it for today’s post. It’ll be a nice day, so get outside if you can. Thank you for reading and as always, take care!
