Columbus County Sheriff’s Office and State Bureau of Investigation are investigating a body was discovered Wednesday near Tabor City. Chief Deputy Jerome McMillian of the sheriff office said the male’s name has not been confirmed. Friends and family of Irvin Hakeem Jonson said on social media that the body is that of the missing man.
Someone set fire to a Hydro-Ax logging machine Saturday, destroying the $15,000 machine. Roseland Fire Department was called to Gamble Trail after the burning machine was discovered.
Deputies detained a teenager with a handgun, marijuana and a stolen Jeep after a midnight chase this morning. The teen’s name was not released because he is only 15. The chase occurred near Memory’s Corner, off U.S. 701 on the Bladen-Columbus County line.
