Dear Citizens of Whiteville,
After more than 30 years in law enforcement – and over 5 years of which I have had the distinct honor of serving as your Chief of Police – I have announced my retirement. This decision comes with a deep sense of gratitude and reflection on the incredible journey we have taken together. Serving the community has been more than a profession; it has been a calling. Whiteville is more than a city, it’s a family.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of working alongside dedicated officers, community leaders, and, most importantly, the citizens that make this town the special place that it is. Your trust, support, and partnership have been invaluable in our shared mission to keep Whiteville safe and thriving.
I have always been inspired by the resilience, strength, and unity of this community. Together, we have built lasting relationships, implemented meaningful change, and upheld the values that define Whiteville. I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished and confident that the department will continue to serve with distinction, integrity and dedication.
Though I am retiring from my role as Chief, Whiteville will always be special to me. I look forward to continuing to support this community in new ways and seeing all the great things lie ahead.
Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving as your Chief of Police. It has been the honor of a lifetime.
With gratitude,
Doug Ipock
Retired Chief of Police
