Rifles, shotguns and narcotics were seized during a raid Wednesday near Whiteville, the sheriff’s office said in a press release.

Danny Mitchell Williams, 55, of 93 Fox Street, was arrested on two counts of trafficking cocaine and four of trafficking heroin/opiates; possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana and narcotics; maintaining a dwelling for drug activities; possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held under a $150,000 secured bond.
The sheriff’s office Vice-Narcotics Division, Special Operations Criminal Investigations and Command Staff participated in the raid. Also seized was a quantity of cash related to narcotics sales.
Several rifles, shotguns and a pistol-caliber carbine were confiscated. The case was taken over by the CCSO resident federal agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).
Sheriff Bill Rogers praised the efforts of the teams involved, emphasizing the department’s commitment to public safety.
“The safety and well-being of our community remain our top priority,” he said. “This operation is a testament to our unwavering dedication to removing illegal drugs from our streets and combating the criminal enterprises that threaten our citizens. I am incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication of our deputies, and we will continue to take decisive action to ensure Columbus County remains a safe place to live and work.”
