A body recovered near Tabor City Wednesday morning is thought to be that of Ervin Hakeem Johnson, 25.
Chief Deputy Jerome McMillian of the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office said the body of a male was discovered, but did not confirm the identity or location. He said the sheriff’s office and State Bureau of Investigation are working on the case. Family and acquaintances said the body was that of Johnson.
Johnson disappeared from a residence around 3 a.m. on Feb. 13, the sheriff’s office said. His mother was the last person to see him, and reported him missing Tuesday. Family members were concerned because left home wearing shorts and a crop top, but without his wallet, phone, or bankcard.
Johnson, who was also known as Ervianna and Baydee, was known for dressing in women’s clothing, according to the missing person’s report.
This is a developing story.
