Multiple Departments at White Hall Road Fire – Video

Breaking news

Firefighters have contained an out of control  grass and debris fire on Whitehall Road has threatened a shed and a home.

Radio traffic indicates firefighters from Hallsboro, North Whiteville, Welches Creek, Whiteville,  and Lake Waccamaw are on the scene.

City and county emergency officials, along with the N.C. Forest Service, warned this morning that today (Feb. 26) would be a high danger fire day in Columbus County. Low humidity, high winds and extremely dry conditions will make for dangerous fire conditions throughout the rest of the week.

Columbus county is two inches below average rainfall for the year, on top of a seven-plus inch deficit from last year.

This is a developing story.
