Here’s your Bottom Line for today…
There’s not much to talk about for today. It’ll be warmer and a LOT less windy today. The winds yesterday were caused by something known as pressure gradient force between a strong low over New England and a strong high over Texas/Louisiana.
The high is pushing east and will be over southern Georgia/northern Florida today, and then pushing off the coast tonight. This allows a southerly wind flow to become established later today. Meanwhile, another strong storm system is coming together over the central Plains, and will push eastward over West Virginia and Virginia through the day on Saturday.
A warm front will lift north across the area Friday night, bringing some cloudiness but not much else. Saturday will be breezy and quite warm ahead of a cold front, set to move through Saturday night.
A scattering of showers will be over the area with the cold front passing through Saturday night. The main low pushes off the Virginia coast by early Sunday while the cold front gets kind of “hung up” just south of our area. This allows a brief cold-air damming event to become established for Sunday leading to lots of clouds, chilly temperatures, and occasional light rain showers.
This all dissipates Sunday night into early Monday, with sprawling high pressure over the Gulf coast bringing warm temperatures and dry weather Monday through Wednesday of next week. Next frontal system appears to push through by Thursday or Friday.

That’ll do it for today. I hope you all have a wonderful day, and as always, take care.
