Here’s today’s Bottom Line
We’re going to close out the month of September with hot and dry conditions thanks to a heat ridge / high pressure ridge. Unseasonably warm temperatures today will crest on Friday, with highs pushing into the lower 90s and heat index values into the upper 90s.
The high pressure ridge pushes east off the coast by the weekend allowing a frontal system to approach. This front will likely sweep across the area on Sunday bringing scattered to numerous showers. Unsettled weather is likely to continue into next week before another – stronger – cold front moves through Monday or Tuesday. This will result in much cooler temps going through the rest of next week.
TROPICS: It looks like Fay has finally become a victim of the shear and dry air that has been in place over the Atlantic this season, thanks to the record-breaking El Nino. The NHC expects not to issue any further advisories.
Tropical Storm Hanna will continue for a little while longer before ultimately dissipating in that shear/dry environment.
