The building housing Provalus firm may cost the City of Whiteville and Columbus County more than originally planned. Whiteville City Officials will hear an update Tuesday on the possibility of putting an entirely new roof on the former High Publishing building on Columbus Street. Multiple holes were found in the built-up rubber roof on the structure.
County Commissioners will review a new policy shifting some tax collection costs back to municipalities. Officials said the move the move is designed to streamline the tax payment process and accounting for both taxpayers and county government.
The Wall That Heals, a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial, will roll through downtown Whiteville Tuesday, April 22 around 12:30 p.m. Businesses and residents are encouraged to welcome the procession, which is expected to include dozens of motorcyclist from veterans organizations. The wall will be open at the Veterans Memorial Park of America Thursday through Sunday morning of this week.
