Two Cerro Gordo sisters face multiple drug charges after an investigation. Miranda and Crystal Godwin were jailed by the sheriff’s office for allegedly possessing and selling opiates, cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
The Wall That Heals, a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial, will roll through Downtown Whiteville Tuesday, April 22 around 12:30 p.m. Businesses and residents are encouraged to welcome the escorted procession, which is expected to include dozens of motorcyclist from veterans organizations. The wall will be open 24 hours a day at the Veterans Memorial Park Thursday, April 24 through Sunday, April 27. There is no charge.
A 450 acre wildfire in Pender County was quickly under control Saturday by the Forest Service and local fire departments. Fire conditions are worsening as drought conditions continue in our area. No burn ban has been issued here, but if you must burn, monitor wind direction, keep firefighting tools and a cell phone handy, and do not burn on windy days.
