Mpox found in Greenville Wastewater

State Health Officials said Tuesday that Monkey Pox has been found in wastewater in two locations in Greenville. Mpox, as it is properly known, transmits through prolonged skin to skin contact, most often through sexual contact, according to the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services.

The two cases are half of the total number of Mpox Type I cases found in the United States. Mpox Type I is responsible for the outbreak in Central Africa.
