A 450 acre wildfire in Pender County was quickly under control Saturday by the Forest Service and local fire departments. Fire conditions are worsening as drought conditions continue in our area.
No burn ban has been issued here, but if you must burn, monitor wind direction, keep firefighting tools and a cell phone handy, and do not burn on windy days.
