Phil Honeycutt

Phil Honeycutt, 71, of Chadbourn, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, April 5, 2025, at the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Worthington Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.

The visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM on Wednesday, prior to the Funeral Service.

Phil was straightforward – his yes was yes and his no was no. He loved to laugh and encourage others. He was bold about his faith, and he gave lavishly to anyone who needed help.

Phil owned and operated Honeycutt Produce alongside his brother for four decades. His business remains an unwavering source of industry for Columbus County despite numerous economic challenges. Phil came to know Jesus in his late 20’s as a long-distance truck driver, later developing into a decisive business owner and church leader. He was a state-awarded high school shortstop, a math genius, a tireless worker, a motivating speaker, a compassionate friend, and a consistent giver to the Kingdom of God.

His legacy of perseverance and generosity lives on through: His wife, Cindy Honeycutt; daughters, Luanne Honeycutt Hilbourn, Bethany Honeycutt, Sophie Honeycutt Howell; son-in-law, Bryan Hilbourn; grandchildren, Joseph Nance, Lauren Hilbourn, Carmen Hilbourn, Cole Hilbourn, Avery Tuttle, Mason Howell, Haley Howell; sister, Ginny Honeycutt Buffkin; and the ministry of Columbus Christian Academy which – without his time, leadership, and resources given since 1977, would not be where it is today.

Phil has joined in heaven: his dad John Honeycutt, Jr., mom Mary Loil Thompson Honeycutt, brother John Honeycutt, III, the many believers he introduced to Jesus, and his favorite apostle, Peter.
