
Hippity Hoppity the Easter Bunny is on his way, and so are the residents of Columbus. Church services are in full swing, and there are egg hunts galore. Lake Waccamaw Methodist Church will be having a Sunday sunrise Easter service at the Sailing Club at 6:15 a.m. All are welcome, and LWMC will have a continental style breakfast to follow at the church’s Fellowship Hall. Regular services will begin at 11 a.m. The club is located at 3100 Canal Cove Road.
The Waccamaw Siouan tribe will be hosting their fourth annual glow in the dark egg hunt on April 20 at 6 p.m. There will be lots of eggs, food, and fun. The tribal grounds can be found at 7239 Old Lake Road in Bolton.

There’s another Little Free Library in Columbus County in the Roseland community. Sarah McPherson and her son Colt wanted to share their love of books and reading with folks of all ages. Stop by and grab a book or leave a book to help keep it stocked. The library is located at 1500 Roseland Road in front of the warehouse.
St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church is still holding their weekly food bank every Thursday at 11 a.m. The church can be found at 507 Moneyhole Road in Freeman.

Engage Life Church wanted to spread a little love and some gospel on Madison Street last Saturday. Several members held signs offering free hugs, a shoulder to lean on, an invitation to talk, and the reminder that Jesus loves us.
The Lake Waccamaw Methodist Women will have their annual bake sale on Saturday, April 19, at the Hill’s shopping plaza at the Lake. Preorders can be made by calling 910.840.6978 or 910.840.4771. Items available are pecan pie, lemon meringue, coconut pie, chocolate pie, apple cake, plain or lemon pound cake with or without icing, cheese ball, and crescents.
Columbus County Parks and Recreation will open up registration for their annual summer youth camps on April 21. The activities will include sports, arts, nature, future first responder education, and so much more. Registration will be online, and the information will be posted to the Parks and Rec Facebook page.
The Wall That Heals needs volunteers during its visit to the Veterans Memorial Park in April. Angela Norris of the park said 200 volunteers are needed to serve four-hour shifts around the clock, as well as helping set up and tear down the display. Hundreds of veteran motorcycle club members will escort the wall through Whiteville on April 23. The wall is a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. Local beekeepers are staying busy, especially in the Wooded Acres community of Lake Waccamaw. Jonathan Ward and Annie Jenkins put out a call to save not just one, but three swarms at their Oak Road homes. Matt Lewis of Hallsboro relocated one swarm on Friday, and Russell Tyler of Waccamaw Apiaries was called out to help with the two other hives on Saturday. Honeybees, butterflies, and other creatures contribute to up to ninety percent of crop pollination in the U.S. each year. If you spot a hive in need of help, call 910.640.5114.
Columbus County Department of Aging will host a ‘Wisteria Senior Prom’ on Thursday, April 24, from 4:30-7 p.m. The event will be held at the Vineland Station venue in Whiteville, and the attire is dressy casual. Tickets are $15 each, and the price includes admission and dinner.
