Shank, Broomhandle Fight Sends Inmate to Hospital

A fight between inmates at Tabor Correctional sent one man to the hospital.

Tabor City Police Officer J. Hicks reported that Francisco Bastian-Castaneda, 29, allegedly attacked fellow inmates Marteise Javon Hines with a broomhandle just after noon May 20. Hines then assaulted Bastian-Castanada with a homemade knife.

Bastian-Castanada was stabbed several times with the homemade knife and taken to an area hospital. Hines faces a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
