Charges are pending after a woman allegedly performed a medical procedure on a dog in May.
The sheriff’s office reported that a tip through the county website claimed a Hallsboro woman performed unspecified medical procedures on her dog “without proper equipment, training, or veterinary medications.’ The woman allegedly posted photos of the procedure on her Facebook page.
Animal Protective Services and representatives from the State Veterinarian Board were also contacted about the alleged procedure. On May 29, APS workers went to the home and made contact with the woman. During the visit, video and photographic evidence was collected and forwarded to the North Carolina Department of Agriculture for further review.
This case remains under active investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time.
