State officials are on high alert due to pro-immigration rallies set for multiple locations in North Carolina Saturday. Rallies are planned for Wilmington, Leland, Asheville, and multiple locations in the state capital. The Nokings.org effort is being organized in support of anti-ICE riots going on in California.

 

Tar Heel gamblers spent less and took home less in May, the state lottery commission said this morning. Just over $562 million was wagered in May, resulting in $492 million in winnings. April betters spent $576 million, and took home $525 million. Revenues for the state from e-gambling in May totaled just shy of $12 million.

 

The Veterans Memorial park will host a flag retirement ceremony Saturday – which is Flag Day – starting at 9 a.m. The park is located on U.S. 701 South of Whiteville, in the New Hope community. Anyone with a worn flag that has outlived its service may bring it for proper disposal.
