Developers will hold a public meeting June 10 to outline a plan to build more than 4,500 homes near Lake Waccamaw. Advance Land and Timber Company wants to build the homes on Old Lake Road, approximately two miles North of East Columbus High School.

 

Columbus County water customers are being required to pay their bills in person at the utilities office while new software goes online. The county recently upgraded its computer systems for utility connections, and the online payment system and draft payments are currently not functioning. The system is expected to be fully operational in mid June.

 

The price for the new school in Bolton  increased $1.8 million since December, on top of already being more than $10 million over the estimated $55 million proposed for the new school. Columbus County school officials will receive another financial update from Superintendent Eddie Beck at their next meeting.
