Here’s today’s Bottom Line

Not a whole lot to talk about in today’s weather update. A diffuse, poorly organized upper-level low pressure center is drifting over Georgia today. On the whole that doesn’t really mean an awful lot, just some added instability and moisture.

Typical summertime weather conditions will prevail through Tuesday: sunshine, heat, and afternoon/evening thunderstorms. Storms will be slow-moving and produce tremendous rainfall and tremendous amounts of lightning. One or two cells my briefly pop to severe limits with hail and wind, but there’s no real organization to things, very little shear to tilt the storms.

A weak cold front drops southeast over the area by next Wednesday. This will likely enhance the thunderstorm chances… Wednesday could feature quite a bit in the way of shower and thunderstorm activity throughout the day with copious rainfall.

After the front dissolves along the coast late Wednesday, the typical summertime pattern returns for Thursday and the Fourth of July… and into the holiday weekend as well.

TROPICAL OUTLOOK: Invest AL91 has come together in the Bay of Campeche. Some development of this system is possible this weekend, and it has a 30% probability of becoming a tropical system before moving inland over eastern Mexico by Monday.

Otherwise, no other activity is expected, and none that will need our attention locally.
