
There was a steady stream of candidates at the county board of elections Monday when filing opened for the fall municipal races.
Three candidates have signed up to run for mayor at Lake Waccamaw. Incumbent Matt Wilson is facing challenges from Chad Smith and Greg Randal Jacobs. Lynn Hinnant also filed for the East Ward commissioner seat. No one has filed for the West Ward commissioner seat as of closing time Tuesday.
No candidate has signed up for Boardman mayor, but Kelly Tevis Britt has filed to run for town council.
In Bolton, incumbent mayor Shawn Maynor is unchallenged. Daniel Lee Brown, Barbara Graham and Kelvin Gerald Thurman Jr. signed up to run for alderman.
Cerro Gordo’s mayoral race was still empty Tuesday but Jeffrey Talmadge Greene filed to run for town council.
Former board member Rashad Roberts also filed to run for Chadbourn town council.
Alonzo McArthur tossed his hat in the ring for Brunswick Town Commissioner.
Fair Bluff Mayor Billy Hammond filed to run for another term, but no one had filed for commissioner as of closing time Tuesday.
Sandyfield had no one file for office Tuesday.
In Tabor City, Christopher Fowler, Mitchell Kent Strickland and James Lamont Grate filed for town council.
In Whiteville, no filings were reported for mayor, but Linda Bright Smith and incumbent Tim Collier have filed for the District One and District Two council seats, respectively.
Municipal Election Day is Nov. 4. Only voters who have lived in a town for 30 days or more may vote in town and city elections.
