Carolyn Leona Greene Thompson, 85, of Cerro Gordo, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, while in the Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Waitus Greene and Ora Blackwell Greene; husband, Clyde Russell Thompson; her children, Barry Thompson and Wanda Carol Thompson; siblings, L.C. Greene, Eugene Greene, Rudolph “Pudgy” Greene, Edwin Greene, Eloise Thornton, Reubin Greene, Christine Smith, Lois McKinney
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Gowan Cemetery in Cerro Gordo. Pastor Jeff Stocks and Pastor Tim Moore will officiate.
Visitation will be from 2:00-2:45 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Carolyn leaves behind her son, Eric Thompson and wife, Melody, of Cerro Gordo; grandchildren, Kayla Thompson Jenkins (Patrick), Austin Thompson, and Kristen Thompson; great-grandchildren, Mattie Jenkins, Jayce Bellamy, and one on the way; siblings, George “Jimmy” Green, Pat Greene, Shelby Hill (Gene); host of niece, nephews, and friends.
