Columbus County Animal Protective Services will be bringing the community together for the ‘Paws, Music, and Moonlight’ event on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the shelter, located at 288 Legion Drive in Whiteville. There will be live music, local vendors, food, and plenty of furry friends up for adoption.
A Las Vegas man was arrested Thursday after driving 90 miles an hour during a rainstorm, fighting with troopers and endangering his dog. Joseph Paul Singletary was arrested after leading troopers on a chase along U.S. 74. When he was taken into custody, reports say he continued fighting. The dog was unharmed.
State officials were in Brunswick County last week to celebrate the reopening of the last roadway there damaged by the September 16 storm. The near-tropical storm flooded dozens of roadways throughout the Brunswick County. The symbolic ribbon cutting for the bridge over Smith Creek in Southport marked the last repair project form the storm.
