The mother accused of abusing her infant son saw her bond raised to $40,000 Tuesday. Katelyn Regina Hinson, 21, of 569 Beaver Dam Rd., Clarendon, was originally released on a $1,500 unsecured bond, according to Detention Center reports. She was charged with a single count of felony negligent child abuse, resulting in serious bodily injuries. A judge raised her bond in Columbus County District Court Tuesday.
Detectives have jailed a Chadbourn man after watching him make a drug deal in a Chadbourn parking lot. Rymeek Freeman, 18, was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver crack cocaine. He was out on bond on unrelated charges at the time.
Whiteville is losing $5.1 million in FEMA flood prevention funding, money that would have helped improve Mollies Branch. “This means a lot to the city,” City Manager Darren Currie said. “Losing the BRIC money was a huge hit to the project.”
