The Columbus County Commissioners have postponed this week’s meeting due to a lack of air conditioning in the county office building.
Commission Chair Laverne Coleman said a lightning strike during one of the recent storms hit one of the HVAC units. Repairs will not be completed in time for tonight’s meeting, he said.
“They’re working on it,” Coleman said, “but it’s 95 degrees in that building right now.”
Next Monday’s meeting schedule will include an executive session at 5 p.m. followed by the regular meeting at 6:30 p.m.
Several county offices have closed early due to the lack of air conditioning. The Environmental Health office has shifted operations to the Health Department main office on Jefferson Street.
