
Several head of cattle are recovering after reportedly being shot in northern Columbus County.
The sheriff’s office was called to Pine Drive, Bladenboro July 22 after a farmer discovered what appeared to be healing gunshot wounds on several cows. The report did not specifically say how many animals were involved, or what kind of weapon was used. The cattle are expected to recover.
The owner also told deputies that someone had shot posted signs on the property. He also said it was not the first time someone had shot livestock in the area.
The case remains under active investigation.
