A Whiteville woman faces 30 charges ranging from drugs to child abuse and traffic offenses after a high speed chase across state lines.
Quasheima Reeves, 27, had three children under the age of two in her vehicle when she allegedly fled from deputies on Swamp Fox Highway, according to sheriff’s reports.
Reeves is being held under $187,000 secured bond. She is charged with trafficking in opiates and cocaine; possession with intent to manufacture, sell and distribute cocaine, opiates, MDMA, and methamphetamine; conspiracy to traffic cocaine and opiates; child endangerment; maintaining a vehicle for drug activities; three counts of misdemeanor child abuse; felony fleeing to elude arrest; resisting an officer; and multiple traffic violations. She was also held as a fugitive. Her address was listed on court documents as 411 E. Virgil St., Whiteville.
The sheriff’s office reported that deputies were asked to assist Horry county Police in a high speed chase that moved onto N.C. 905. Reeves was allegedly driving in excess of 120 miles per hour and driving left of center for much of the chase.
Deputies finally stopped Reeves near the intersection of Swamp Fox Highway and Shug Norris Road, where they found the children – an infant and two other children, ages one and two – in car seats but not belted in. Columbus County Social Services took custody of the children.
Deputies searched the car and found a “substantial quantity of narcotics,” the report said, including 33 grams of crack cocaine, 6 grams of powdered cocaine, 24.5 grams of meth, 4.19 grams of opiates, 22 doses of MDMA, and .35 grams of marijuana.
