A pair of local teams will be among the 42 squads invading Harnett County this weekend as the World Series of DYB starts today (July 25) in Dunn.
Two teams from Riegelwood will represent North Carolina in two different brackets. The 6-U squad will take on South Carolina at 9 a.m. on Field 1 and the 8-U team plays at 10 a.m. against Florida on Field 1. The 6-U team will be tested as the Lancaster, S.C. squad is the two-time state champion. The tournament will tun through July 31.
Large crowds into the thousands are expected to attend the series. The games are being held at Tyler Park and Clarence Lee Tart Park in Dunn.
The 6-U team dropped both games in pool play today. The 8-U team went 1-1.
Both teams will start bracket play Saturday morning.
