
East Bladen’s Nene Ward hit double figures with 11 points as the East Girls defeated the West All-Stars Monday 97-85 in the N. C. Coaches Association East-West All-Star Game.
The turning point in the game was the second quarter when the second unit came in and pushed a one point lead to ten points, 52-42, at the half. The West cut the lead to 69-62 going into the fourth quarter but the East blew it open, leading by as much as 16 in the fourth quarter. East was led by Jasmine Nivar’s 25 points and 11 rebounds.
Apex Friendship graduate Nivar was the MVP with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Jasmyia Lindsey of Richmond had 13 points, Jasmaria Freeman of Fike scored 12 points, and East Bladen’s Nene Ward contributed 11 points. Lake Norman’s Alexis Shehan led all West scorers with 21 points, Chloe Galombeck of Hough High chipped in 11 points, and Lake Norman’s Samantha Shehan grabbed 10 boards.
