
Play South Carolina For World Series Title Today
Central Columbus Angels stayed unbeaten In the DYB World Series Softball Championship with wins over Tennessee 11-1 and Florida 4-3. They will play South Carolina on Tuesday for the World Series Championship. They beat South Carolina 4-3 earlier in the tournament. It is double elimination so if the Angels win, they are the champions. If South Carolina wins, they will play a winner take all rematch.
Against Tennessee, a big six-run second inning broke a 1-1 tie to spark Central Columbus to an 11-1 victory. Later against Florida, with the game tied 4-4 in the fourth inning, Layken Lancaster hit a triple and scored the winning run for the victory 5-4. The Angels were up early in the second inning 2-1 when Grace Rhodes singled and Izzy Nealey singled. Addie Lancaster knocked in Rhodes for a 3-1 lead. Gigi Williamson singled in Addie Lancaster to put Central Columbus up, 4-1.
In other games, the South Columbus Ponytails were eliminated, losing to Monroe (La.) 4-0. That concludes a great season for the Ponytails.
