The State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the death of another inmate at Columbus Correctional Center in Brunswick.
Quashaunn Omar Shuford, age 31, was found unresponsive in a dormitory just after midnight Thursday. Chad Flowers of the SBI said investigators are awaiting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Shuford was serving a four year sentence for common law robbery, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, and obtaining property by false pretenses, according to the Dept. of Corrections. He was due for release in 2027.
The death is the second of an inmate at Columbus this year. Marcus Robert Sanders was found unconscious and unresponsive in his bed in April. The SBI is also awaiting test results in that investigation.
