A man who was stabbed in the abdomen refused medical treatment and wouldn’t cooperate with investigators early Wednesday, after he was tracked by an ankle monitor.
The sheriff’s office was called to Todd Town Road in Clarendon just before 1 a.m. to a report of a self-inflicted stab wound, the report said. Deputies found an individual at the scene who was “covered in blood” who said the victim had fled into a wooded area.
Deputies and N.C. Probation and Parole officers used electronic monitoring equipment to find the man. Th report said he had a “significant laceration to the abdomen” and was “visibly intoxicated.”
EMS responded to the scene to treat the man, who had severe blood loss. Despite repeated requests from EMS and law enforcement, the man refused to be taken to a hospital. He was treated on the scene.
The report said the man told deputies his wound was not self-inflicted, but refused to elaborate. The investigation was closed due to his lack of cooperation.
