A Southern Pines man arrested in a storage closet in Tabor city allegedly threatened to kill law enforcement officers.
Michael Allen Cole, 56, of Southern Pines, was arrested Sunday on Labon Street in Tabor City, according to TCPD reports. He was charged with communicating threats and first degree burglary, and held under $1,000 secured bond.
The report said that officers were called to 100 Labon Street around 7:30 p.m. after a report of a prowler in the area. The homeowner told 911 that she watched a man enter a storage closet in her carport via security camera, and that the man was hiding in the closet.
Ptl. T. Garner and Sgt. J. McKeithan knocked on the door repeatedly and ordered the suspect to come out, but Cole did not respond. When they opened the door, Cole was standing in the room without any lights on. He was taken into custody.
While officers were putting Cole into a patrol car, the report said, Cole allegedly said that he wanted to “kill all law enforcement.”
